Hi Max, just wanted to drop in and say thank you for your immense contributions to the world of music. You are a bassist and composer extraordinaire. You have been a huge influence on my musicianship since 1974. When my wife Carlene passed away suddenly in 2013 it was the music that sustained me. Carlene and I managed a resort in Cambria. She was a huge fan of you and your music too. My Best to You and Teri in 2015! 8)

Hi Gary, Once again I must thank you for your very kind words. I try my best to make music with intrinsic value & I very much appreciate your input. I can only imagine how devastating it is to lose your life partner. I wish you the very best & again thank you for your kindness. m

Max, I'm a late blooming bass player and I decided to go back to some of my childhood favorite albums and Tom Cat is on the list. I'm deconstructing the great bass lines and having a blast. You're the man!!! Chas Rio Chas Rio on Facebook

Hello Max: I enjoy your music man! You are a great bass player. I enjoy your bass playing in albums such as "Max Bennett and Freeway", Richard Elliot's "Initial Approach", and Sam Riney's "Lay It On The Line". I have actually collected most of the jazz music like these that where released over the years. I have a boat load of tape recordings of jazz music from the 80's. In fact, I was going through them the other day, and I heard an unidentified song that has your bass playing style. I was wondering if it was you with the Freeway group from the 80's. (I have a link to it below). Just though I'd ask :p. Anyways, dig your music! Keep on killin' that base :p ! -Kyle

A couple of years ago, my brother received an email from Sally Chrane Hobbs who thought she was related to us, In fact, she is and so are you. My G grandmother and Sallie's Ggrandfather were brother and sister and we think that you are the descendant of one of the other siblings who came over from Denmark. Dors this sound right to you? I live in Mission Viejo and have a cousin who lives in San Diego and I sometimes drive down to see her. Do you still play in public? I would love to come and hear you play one evening. PS You look like my cousin Obed who grew up in Omaha. From a distant cousin, Linda

Hi, Max. Just wanted to say hi, and let you know that you were a hero of mine since the 1970s, when I first heard you play bass with the L.A. Express. Your latest album sounds great. Take Care. Mike Jewels, Queens, N.Y.

😉 Hi Max 🙂 Feels so good to be visiting your website again! Carlene passed away suddenly in 2013, so I'm no longer at the resort in Cambria. It's been a rough year. I'm finally back performing, playing bass guitar with the same group of excellent players I've been with for 30 yrs. now. I just hit #60. Playing music steady now; concerts, clubs and theater venues on the coast and in the San Joaquin Valley. Both Carlene and I loved Private Reserve and enjoyed listening to your CDs on our day trips up and down the Cal. Coast, You're my favorite bassist forever. Started back in the 70's. You're looking great Max. Love the tone on the 6 string both live and studio. Please tell your lovely wife I said hello and wish both of you my BEST. You've inspired me for 40 yrs. I visit your site often now. I must say your awesome music and Private Reserve inspired and motivated me to get through my darkest days. Your unique sound really got my endorphins pumping again. I thank God for your talent and the gift of awesome music you've written shared with the world. My Best, to you and yours!
